Police seeking son after Grand Junction woman found dead in desert

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Police were looking for a 31-year-old man Saturday after his mother’s body was found in the desert north of Grand Junction.

Daniel Stetzel is a person of interest in the death of his 60-year-old mother, Kathleen Stetzel, police said. She was reported missing on Wednesday.

Daniel Stetzel has a long criminal history including drug, assault and robbery charges, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.  A warrant was issued for his arrest on July 11 related to a previous felony case.

He is described as a white male standing five feet, eight inches tall with blue eyes and blond hair.

Anyone with information about Daniel Stetzel or his whereabouts should call 911.
