DENVER -- A prowler who forced his way into a Bear Valley home was shot to death early Friday morning, the Denver Police Department said.

Police responded to the residence in the 3300 block of South Winona Court just before 2 a.m. on a call of a prowler who had forced his way into the home.

When police arrived, the suspect was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

District Attorney Mitch Morrissey determined on Monday that no charges would be filed for the homeowner in regards to this incident. The homeowner reportedly acted within the law when he shot and killed the intruder.

The suspect was identified at 32-year-old, Christopher Nelson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
