AURORA, Colo. — A former Arapahoe County magistrate was accused of sex crimes Friday after he was allegedly fooled by Arapahoe County police investigators pretending to be a 14-year-old boy.
The Internet Crimes Against Children team engaged in internet communication with Jeffrey Lane, 58, over a period of days, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office reported.
FOX31 Denver confirmed Lane used to be a magistrate in Arapahoe County and he’s also a former municipal judge in Parker and Castle Rock.
The suspect allegedly described sex acts and sent naked photos of himself to the fake child. He also asked for photos in return, police said.
Police identified Lane and obtained a search warrant, they said. On Friday, investigators contacted Lane and found “several items” of evidence. Lane then allegedly admitted to the crimes.
The suspect was arrested on charges of internet luring of a child and internet sexual exploitation of a child, both felonies. He was released on $50,000 bond.
