CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — A man tried to abduct a mother as she was putting her baby in the backseat of a car at an apartment complex in Castle Rock, police said Friday.

The attempted abduction happened around 8 a.m. at the Pines Apartment Complex in the northwest part of the city.

According to police, a 21-year-old woman was putting her baby in the car when a man came up behind her and tried to force her into the car.

“The woman braced herself, screamed and then punched the suspect in the face,” said spokeswoman KerriAnne Mukhopadhyay.

The man then ran away toward the Outlets of Castle Rock.

Police said the man is Hispanic about 5-feet-5 tall and 150 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and light blue jeans with grass stains on the knees.
