The Boulder Police Department said it had been looking for the iguana for about a month.
Officers started looking for the iguana after people reported seeing it roaming in the area. They finally caught it on Ithaca Drive near Emerson Avenue.
Police said they don’t know the lizard’s name but they “affectionately named it Iggy.”
Iggy was taken to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
Officials at the Humane Society said Iggy will be in “stray impound” until Sunday to give the owners the chance to claim him.
After that, Iggy will either be available for adoption or will go to the Colorado Reptile Humane Society.
To adopt Iggy, visit the Humane Society of Boulder Valley website on Monday or call the office to give information.
