FOUNTAIN, Colo. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Saturday night after he was reportedly seen walking into traffic on purpose, the Fountain Police Department said.

Police responded about 8:50 p.m. to the area of Fountain Mesa Road and Caballero Avenue to investigate reports of a drunk man deliberately running in front of cars, FPD said. As they arrived, more reports came in of a man down in the street about a half-mile away.

Upon arriving at Grand Peak Road, police found the body of a man in his early 20s. It’s believed that he was struck by a vehicle and killed.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Police said they had spoken to three juvenile witnesses, but it was not clear what their involvement in the case was.
