DENVER — This is a warning for to pickup truck drivers.

Thefts of tailgates are up near 33 percent from 2012 to 2013. That’s according to insurance claims during the last two years.

The stolen tailgates are resold on the underground market as replacement parts, or they’re sold as scrap metal.

The most tailgate thefts happened in Texas, California and Arizona.
