DENVER — A male pedestrian was seriously injured Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle.

The accident happened about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Southbound traffic on Colorado Boulevard was closed at Bruce Randolph Avenue and westbound traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was closed at Colorado.

Traffic was diverted as police investigated the accident. Traffic quickly backed up to Interstate 70, causing long delays. Both roads reopened just after 9 a.m.

Police say the accident was not a hit-and-run and the driver stayed on the scene to talk with investigators.

Sonny Jackson with the Denver Police Department said a male victim was taken to Denver Health with serious injuries, possibly head trauma. His age was not released.
