DENVER -- Denver Police confirmed an attempted murder suspect was taken into custody after a standoff in Park Hill Thursday morning.
The incident began earlier in the day, police indicated, with a driver failing to pull over when a Commerce City officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
A high-speed chase ensued, with the suspect eventually exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Ash Street. The suspect appeared to be barricaded inside a residence, with police setting up a perimeter in the area for about an hour before locating the suspect and taking him into custody without incident.
Later in the morning, police confirmed the suspect was wanted in Arvada for attempted murder.
That individual was identified as Kirk Len Boyd, 37. He is accused of shooting his acquaintance one time in an apartment building in the area of West 55th Avenue and Newland Street in Arvada, according to police.
Police say the victim sought medical treatment and survived his injury.
