DENVER — People coping with poverty and homelessness in Denver are being invited to a special meal Tuesday thanks to a group of hunters and outdoor adventure enthusiasts.

In 2007, the Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks created the campaign called “Hunt.Fish.Feed.”

“The campaign hosts an annual tour which visits local cities and serves meals to the homeless and hungry,” officials said in a statement Tuesday.

The group will be serving venison tacos, black beans, Spanish rice, seasonal fruit, brownies and fruit punch and milk, officials said.

Officials expect to feed about 200 people at the Denver Rescue Mission–The Crossing, at 6090 Smith Road.  The event begins at 5 p.m.

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has declared Sept. 27 as Hunt. Fish. Feed. Day in Denver, and several state lawmakers and officials will be attending and helping serve food at the event.
