1 killed, 1 seriously hurt in Commerce City crash

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — One person was killed and another was injured after a two-vehicle accident in Commerce City on Friday morning.

The accident happened about 4:40 a.m. at East 60th Avenue and Vasquez Boulevard, just north of Interstate 270.

One of the drivers was declared dead at the scene and the other driver was transported to Denver Health with serious injuries, the Commerce City Police Department said.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, and drugs and/or alcohol are suspected and being investigated, police said.

Northbound Vasquez Boulevard between East 56th and 60th avenues was closed for several hours for the investigation and cleanup, police said. It reopened just before 10 a.m.
