COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — One person was killed and another was transported to a hospital after a head-on crash northwest of Denver International Airport on Wednesday morning, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. near East 120th Avenue and Picadilly Road.

SkyFOX flew near the area, but dense fog in the area showed low visibility, and it was unable to get over the scene of the accident. It’s not known if the fog played a role in the accident, but investigators will look into that as a possibility.

CSP said a 1996 Lexus was heading westbound on 120th when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2012 Dodge pickup that was heading eastbound.

CSP said the driver of the Lexus died at the scene, and the driver of the truck transported himself to a hospital with minor injuries. A passenger was transported to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
