AURORA, Colo. — A three-car crash on 6th Avenue at I-225 killed one person Friday evening.

Pictures from the scene showed a violent collision on eastbound 6th Avenue at the off-ramp from northbound I-225.

“Investigation revealed a black in color Audi sedan, driven by a 25-year-old male, was northbound on I-225 from South Parker Road.  Witnesses observed the Audi was driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in the roadway,” A statement from Aurora Police said.

Witnesses said the driver of the Audi took the 6th Avenue exit at a fast speed and rear-ended a silver Honda CR-V. The 40-year-old driver of that vehicle was stopped at a red light. The Audi continued through the intersection and broadsided a gold Honda Accord, forcing it into a light pole.

The 40-year-old man driving the Accord died at the hospital from his injuries. The woman in the CR-V was in stable condition.

Investigators said the 25-year-old man driving the Audi may have suffered some kind of medical condition. He was also at the hospital Friday night.

Both east and westbound lanes of 6th Avenue were closed during the investigation.
