DENVER -- Plans are in place for new development involving the old Stapleton Airport tower. It's been vacant for some time, but now the residential community that has developed where the airport used to be knows what will become of the structure.
Denver businessman Robert Thompson bought the tower, and while pondering what to do with it, Denver City Council President Christopher Herndon gave him a call.
"He called us about six months ago and asked us if we would consider putting a Punch Bowl Social in the iconic tower and I paused for about five seconds and then said yes," Thompson said.
Tower will be converted into bowling lanes and a restaurant ... a gathering place. The cost of renovation will be about $6 million.
The top of the tower will not be open to the public.
