DENVER — A Colorado prison inmate has died and the investigation into his death is underway.
The Colorado Department of Corrections says 23-year-old Matthew Melina died Wednesday at the Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility in Canon City.
Melina was serving a five year sentence for robbery of an at risk person in Jefferson County.
He entered prison in March 2010 and was paroled in September 2012. He went back to prison two months later on a parole violation.
The DOC did not release any information about how Melina died.
