ATLANTA — A man fatally shot by a Georgia police officer on Monday was unarmed and completely naked, local police said this week.
Officers responded about 1 p.m. to a report of a man behaving strangely at an apartment complex, CBS 46 reported. When officers arrived, they reportedly saw Anthony Hill, 27. He was standing outdoors, fully nude, according to police.
What happened next is still under investigation. DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander told reporters that the suspect went berserk, “charging” at one officer. The officer, fearing for his life, was forced to shoot the man twice, killing him, Alexander said.
But witnesses told CBS 46 that the naked man did not charge the officer and was just ignoring commands to calm down.
Police have confirmed that no weapon was found at the scene of the killing.
