INDIANAPOLIS -– A truck hauling piglets overturned on the west side of Indianapolis on Thursday night, WTFD reported.

The truck was hauling 2,058 pigs when Wayne Township Fire Department firefighters arrived on the scene. The piglets were being transported from a North Carolina farm to a farm in Iowa.

About 700 of the pigs did not survive after some were crushed under the truck and others falling on top of them. The pigs that did survive were transported to the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

It was unknown what caused the crash.
