COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — President Barack Obama took time to meet the Thunderbirds pilot who crashed Thursday.

Obama shook hands with pilot Alex Turner and thanked him for his service. The jet crashed in a field about 1 p.m., not long after taking part in a flyover at the Air Force Academy graduation.

Obama gave the commencement address at the ceremony. Turner ejected from the plane and was unhurt, according to the Air Force.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
