STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New York mother was arrested Thursday after she allegedly threatened to “blow up” her daughter’s high school.
Karen Shearon, 48, allegedly threatened a guidance counselor at Susan Wagner High School after the administrator called to inform her that her daughter had failed a standardized test, Staten Island Advance reported.
The counselor told police that Shearon actually said “I am going to blow up the school.”
Shearon told reporters that she did speak to the counselor multiple times on Thursday, but denied that she made the threat. She pleaded not guilty to one count of misdemeanor harassment.
“They harassed my children and that’s not correct,” she said.
Shearon questioned whether the school really believed there was any danger, since the campus was not evacuated and police didn’t contact her for hours, she said.
