A stand-off with a suicidal individual in Summit County ends peacefully

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — Saturday morning after a call for assistance the Lake Country Sheriff’s Office and Leadville Police Department followed a suicidal individual driving into Summit County.

A statement from the Summit Count Sheriff said, the individual did not show any unusual behavior or aggressive driving.

Local law enforcement and Colorado State Patrol, stopped the vehicle on eastbound I-70 near exit 201.  After a four hour stand-off the negotiations ended peacefully, according to the statement.

The subject was found to be armed with a .45 caliber handgun, after the individual surrendered peacefully.

The statement said, the individual will undergo a mental health evaluation and not be charged.
