TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The winner of the $590 million Powerball jackpot has claimed the prize.

Florida Lottery officials say the winner is Gloria MacKenzie, 84, from Zephyrhills in suburban Tampa, Fla.

The winning ticket was sold in Zephyrhills May 18.

Officials held a news conference Wednesday. MacKenzie did not attend. She went to Tallahassee with her son and two lawyers to claim her prize.

The Florida Lottery says she’s taking the grand prize in a lump sum payment.

Her prize is the largest won by a sole winner in U.S. lottery history.
