DICKINSON, Texas — Rescuers were able to save 20 to 25 nursing home residents from La Vita Bella nursing home in Dickinson, Texas, after catastrophic flooding.

Residents could be seen sitting in waist-deep water in a photo that went viral Sunday.

Some people questioned whether the picture was faked, but Timothy McIntosh insisted it was real.

Others tweeted photos of flooded areas nearby.

According to The Daily News in Galveston County, the residents were rescued by helicopter.

“We were air-lifting grandmothers and grandfathers,” said David Popoff, the city’s emergency management coordinator.

“Thanks to all the true believers that re-tweeted and got the news organizations involved. It pushed La Vita Bella to #1 on the priority list,” McIntosh tweeted after everyone had been rescued.
