GREENWICH, N.Y. — A 12-year-old boy in upstate New York has died after being buried in a large snowbank.
Police in Greenwich, N.Y., said the boy was playing with a friend as a snowplow was clearing the street Tuesday, WTEN reported.
First responders located him with a police K-9 unit, but the boy was already unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
“They burled into the back side of that snowbank to make a fort, like all kids do,” Cambridge-Greenwich police chief George Bell said. “I don’t know if the bank collapsed in on them or one of the pieces of equipment pushing the snowbank pushed snow on top of the room and buried them.”
The second boy is in the hospital, but he is responsive and talking.
Police are still investigating the incident.
