DENVER — A serious multiple vehicle accident closed down a major highway interchange Friday.

It happened around 4 a.m. at the interchange of I-25 and I-225 in Denver; DPD tweeted that four cars were involved and later tweeted that the crash was a two-car hit-and-run.

DPD clarified on Saturday morning that there were multiple people in the suspect vehicle.

One party was ejected from the suspect vehicle and is being treated for life threatening injuries. That party’s status as of Saturday morning was still critical. Another party was also transported in unknown status.

The third party fled the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated and released at the scene.

Police were still trying to identify the suspect driver Saturday.

The northbound ramp from I-225 to I-25 was shut down for police investigation and cleanup on Friday.

This is a developing story.
