Mother dies of wounds from Colorado Springs motel fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Brandy Jones, mother of the two children who died earlier this week due to injuries suffered in a motel fire, also died Thursday.

Jones and three of her children were caught in a fire at Ranch Motel in Colorado Springs early on Saturday, May 30. All four victims were transported in critical condition.

Her 2-year-old daughter Cheyenne Jones died soon after being rescued from the fire and her 4-year-old son Wade Jones died Monday in the hospital.

The Colorado Springs Police Department announced the passing of Brandy Jones on their Facebook Friday morning.

Ms. Jones was 33 years old. The autopsy for her body is not scheduled until Sunday, June 7th.

Her 10-year-old son remains in stable condition and continues to improve, according to Colorado Springs police.

This investigation is continuing and is expected to take a long time as the police department and fire department work towards the origin and cause of the fire.  No further updates on the investigation are available at this time.
