STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — A moose and her two calves have been walking the residential streets of Steamboat Springs for the last few weeks.

According to Steamboat Today, the trio appears to have found a good source of the salt they crave on vehicles.

Salt is used to help reduce ice on the roads, and the vehicles pick that salt up. The moose are taking advantage of that and getting their salt off of the cars.

It’s not unusual for moose to be seen in Steamboat Springs, but this group attracts onlookers, and that can pose a danger for people and the animals.

Wildlife experts are telling spectators to watch from a distance, and not to box the moose in. That way, they won’t get spooked.
