DENVER -- Many will remember the newly renamed Turntable Micro-apartments are being housed in what used to be the Mile High Holiday Inn or VQ Hotel just north of Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The Nichols Partnership will offer studio, along with one-bedroom units and two-bedroom penthouse suites. Studios will average 330 square feet; the one- bedrooms will be in the 650-square-foot range while the two-bedroom spaces will be about 820 square feet.
“Many new apartments being built are commanding about $3 or more per square foot; the monthly rents can top $2,000,” Melissa Rummel said. “Our efficiencies will rent for less than $1,000 a month.”
The old hotel now new apartment complex is set to open in late summer. The views are amazing from the circular spot next to the home of the Broncos.
“You can see the mountains, downtown and just about anywhere else in the area,” Rummel said. “We have used a ‘pie-shaped’ method in putting in the new units.”
While the micro units have been used in Japan, San Francisco and New York for years, these will be the first in Denver. They are sleek, modern and the building has amenities like a work out room and swimming pool.
“We also have a secure bicycle garage for all, which means no lugging bikes up to units where space is at a premium,” Rummel said. “Our hope is that the units will be just right for young professionals, singles, students or people who want to sell their homes but have a ‘crash-pad’ to use when they come to town.”
As the Four Seasons Hotel, its presidential suite offers 2,700 square feet that can be doubled if need be. The basic space rents for $10,000 a night.
