LITTLETON, Colo. — Parents at Deer Creek Middle School say they have been duped by a local photo booth company. After paying the company $250, parents say the company disconnected its phone line and website, and wouldn’t respond to them.
“I called to confirm yesterday; no phone numbers and no website,” Christen Reiner said.
It might not seem like a big deal, but for eight-graders at Deer Creek it is. The end-of-the-school-year celebration they throw each year is considered the biggest event for the middle schoolers.
Raising $250 for the photo booth was no easy task.
“I just can’t believe they’re taking money out of the hands of kids,” Reiner said.
5280 Events and Rentals has a poor rating with the Better Business Bureau based out of Denver. Along with a poor rating, it also has a long list of complaints from others who say they’ve been scammed.
A recording on the phone number for the company says, “The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable.”
But another photo booth company, Shutter Booth based out of Denver, stepped in and offered its services free of charge.
“We got you. We got you.” Shutter Booth owner Randy Glassman said.
Glassman said he has received several calls from people who say they’ve been scammed by 5280 Events and Rentals as well.
