FAIRPLAY, Colo. -- A missing woman was found Sunday afternoon, badly injured inside a crashed vehicle in Park County, the Park County Sheriff's Office said.

About 1:54 p.m. Sunday, passers-by stopped at the sheriff's office to report what they believed was a dead body in a vehicle near Red Hill Pass off of US Highway 285, police said.

Upon investigation, police found a female believed to be Kristin M. Hopkins alive but in critical condition inside the vehicle, which had driven into an aspen grove 140 feet off the road.

Hopkins, 43, of Highlands Ranch, was reported missing on April 29.

Hopkins was evacuated by air ambulance. Her condition, and how she came to be injured, were still being investigated.
