PUEBLO, Colo. — A Pueblo teenager reported missing earlier this month who allegedly had been kidnapped has returned home safely, the Pueblo Police Department said.

Gema Arias, 15, was reported missing as a runaway on May 13 after not returning home from Central High School.

On Thursday, her family received messages, apparently from the girl, saying she was kidnapped and was being held hostage, according to Pueblo authorities.

Police tweeted Sunday that the girl has returned home and is safe, with information about the alleged kidnapping still under investigation.

There was no information provided on the circumstances around Arias’ return home.
