GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A missing Grand Junction teenager was found dead in the Cactus Park outdoor area of Mesa County on Saturday, police said.

Kelly Mae Myers, 18, was reported missing in late December, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Her Facebook account shows no activity after Dec. 17, and investigators are not aware of anyone who heard from her after Dec. 18.

At the time, family members told police Myers might have left voluntarily to hitchhike to Utah, but said they were concerned about the circumstances under which she left.

Full details of those circumstances have not yet been released.

The victim’s body was found by police searching the Cactus Park area. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation. So far, police are considering the death suspicious.
