DENVER — A man accused in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman more than a decade ago has pleaded guilty in connection with the case.
Dony Salazar pleaded guilty to second-degree kidnapping and a crime of violence, said Denver DA spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.
Salazar grabbed the 40-year-old victim and forced her at gunpoint into the backyard of a vacant home and then repeatedly sexually assaulted her, Kimbrough said.
At the time no arrests were made, but recently the case was reopened and solved through a DNA match, she said.
Salazar is currently serving a 20 year prison sentence for aggravated robbery. He faces up to 40 years in this case when he is sentenced on April 21.
