JOHNSTOWN, Colo. — A Northglenn High School student is among the victims of a car crash Monday night that also killed the driver and injured two others.
The Colorado State Patrol identified the victims as 14-year-old Mercedes Parker and 21-year-old Devin Gomez. The victims were traveling back to the Denver metro area after attending a basketball game in Fort Collins according to the victim’s family.
The crash remains under investigation but alcohol or speed are not suspected in the accident. The wreck occurred at 9:37 p.m. Monday night on southbound I-25 near Johnstown.
Investigators say the 2003 ford explorer suddenly veered to the left and flipped several times. Two other passengers, a 14-year-old girl and 42-year-old woman were taken to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland after the crash.
Interstate 25 reopened about 1 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol said.
