GREELEY, Colo. — A man who pleaded guilty to charges that he raped a drunken teenager at a Greeley house party along with an accomplice was sentenced to at least six years in jail Friday.
The indeterminate sentence given to Justin Mireles, 21, means he will serve the entirety of his 6-year sentence and could face life in prison, based on the future recommendation of the Department of Corrections.
According to police, Justin Mireles, 21, forced himself on an intoxicated 17-year-old girl during a party in August 2008. Mireles was convicted in late June on one count of overcoming a victim’s will and one count of sex assault on a victim who was incapable of appraising the nature of her conduct — both felony charges.
Javier Esparza, 21, was convicted of the same charges in May. He will be sentenced on Sept 13.
