DENVER — The man who was found dead in a fire above a Denver deli was identified Friday by the Denver Office of the Medical Center.
Shane Richardson, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene after a fire broke out in the building of the popular Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen near East 26th Avenue and Welton Street on Monday. Richardson’s body was found in a closet in a living space above the deli.
The cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further investigation into the fire, the medical examiner’s office said.
The fire broke out about 2:30 a.m. in the Five Points neighborhood. Police have described the fire as suspicious. It’s not known if he was in the building before or after the fire. No one else was in the building when the fire started.
Police said they are looking for a 1997 Subaru Outback with Colorado license plate 859-ZID and a 2012 Ducati high-end motorcycle with Colorado license plate QTO-128.
Rosenberg’s said it will be closed until further notice.
