JEFFERSON COUNTY Colo. — A man and a woman were kidnapped from their Jefferson County home at gunpoint early Saturday before being rescued by police.

Two men armed with handguns broke into a home in the 16900 block of West 73rd Place about 12:30 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said. They reportedly forced a man and a woman into the residents’ car. The woman’s husband, who also lived at the home, was left behind, police said.

Police believe the suspects and victims know each other through a marijuana-based business of some kind.

One suspect, described as a black male, drove away with the victims. The other suspect, a Hispanic male, was not in the car and was not located by police.

A short time later, Mountain View police spotted the vehicle on Interstate 70 near Sheridan Boulevard. A pursuit ensued into downtown Denver, ending in a crash near 23rd and Stout streets, police said.

The suspect escaped on foot, but the kidnapped victims were safely recovered, police said. Both male victims suffered minor injuries.

Anyone who has information regarding these crimes was asked to call the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
