CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A man accused of shooting his father in the face Tuesday night was arrested late Wednesday afternoon.

Arapahoe County investigators said Jonathon Ryan shot his father at his home last night. It happened in the 5500 block of South Jebel Way.

The arrest Wednesday caused quite a scene. Police put up a perimeter after getting a tip from a neighbor the suspect had returned to the house.

Nearby schools, including Timberline Elementary and Thunder Ridge Middle School were put on “controlled release.”

Parents were lined up outside the schools to pick up their kids.

Ryan was arrested without incident. He faces several charges including attempted murder.

Detectives said Ryan and his father were the only two in the house at the time of the shooting. It’s not known what led up to it happening.

The condition of the 71-year-old father was not released Wednesday night.
