ESTES PARK, Colo. — Just in time for the Fourth of July weekend, major construction delays on U.S. 36 between Lyons and Estes Park as part of the recovery from September’s record flooding will end after Wednesday.

Beginning next week, delays will not exceed 15 minutes, a big boost for the nearly 3,000 people who live in the 36 work zones, said Laura Levy, manager of the Larimer County Long Term Recovery Group.

“It’s big news for the businesses in the work zone — and really big news for Estes Park tourism this July 4th weekend,” Levy said in a statement. “No construction, no dust and rocks and massive ‘tonka toys.'”

There will be several events in Estes Park on Friday, including a fireworks show over Lake Estes at 9:30 p.m.

“Our recovery isn’t over, but this milestone is a great accomplishment as it’s the road home for so many,” Levy said.
