DENVER — Road construction season is cranking up and it could slow down the drive Thursday and Friday.
Denver plans to repave West Mississippi Avenue. Crews will close it between South Santa Fe Drive and South Broadway for the next couple of weeks. It’s part of a much bigger project that will add new traffic lights and signals by the summer.

In a different part of the city, crews will close Broadway from 17th Street to Colfax Avenue beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday until at least Monday morning.
That project will also affect RTD bus operations at the busy Civic Center Station. Passengers will have to catch the buses on the street instead of in the underground bus station.
“The routes themselves are not changing but what they will do is a little detour where they can get on and off near Broadway and that will be clearly marked on all the buses people are riding on and the routes but it wont be down below but listed up above for this weekend,” RTD spokesman Nate Currey said.
