AURORA, Colo. — Twelve people were taken to a hospital after a three-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Buckley Road, the Aurora Police Department said.

Two people, including, a child, were critically injured in the crash, which happened just after 2 p.m.

Police said a silver Saturn SUV was making a left turn from westbound Hampden onto southbound Buckley when it was was hit by a black Honda. The Saturn then struck a white Toyota that was stopped on Buckley.

A passenger in the Saturn, a pregnant woman in her 20s, was ejected and critically injured, police said.

An adult and four children in the Honda were taken to the hospital. Police said none of the passengers in the Honda was wearing a seat belt.

Police have not determined which vehicle had the right of way, but they said speed and alcohol were not factors.

“As the two most critical injured people in this crash were not wearing seat belts, the Aurora Police Department implores citizens to use seat belts and properly restrain children whenever traveling in vehicles,” the department said in a statement.
