LoDo gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day festivities

DENVER -- Lodo's Bar and Grill (1946 Market St.) is ground zero for St. Patrick's Day. LoDo turns green every year for the big weekend.. The Irish snug will have a massive party and Fado Irish Pub puts on it's huge block party.

There’s the runnin' of the green and at kegs and eggs at Lodo's the doors open here at 7 a.m.

The highlight of the weekend for families is the St. Patrick’s Day parade. It starts a half-hour earlier this year, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

This is  one of the largest parades west of the Mississippi River. The kids will love the bagpipes, floats and horses and cars.

The parade begins at 19th and Wynkoop, winds behind the Denver Chophouse, heads to 17th Street and down Blake.

The best place for families to watch is on Blake between 23rd and 27th.

Remember, stay safe. Police will be out looking for drunk drivers.

If you want to do a quieter St. Patrick's Day, you can take the kids to see the famous Molly Brown House. Her parents came to America from Ireland, so there's a great educational display there each year.
