AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department arrested a man at an Extended Stay America after a woman was reportedly being held against her will on Thursday.

Marco Hernandez, 27, is being charged with second-degree assault and domestic violence, and also has several outstanding warrants.

SWAT instructed the man to come out of the room with his hands up and worked on ending the situation peacefully. He was taken into custody without incident.

Aurora police said the unconfirmed report came from 13941 E. Harvard Ave. before at 1:49 a.m. Thursday.

A woman contacted a family member and said there was a man in the room who had a gun and refused to let her leave, police said.

Because of the reported weapon, police said the department’s SWAT team was called to resolve the situation.

Around 11 a.m., police said the woman came out of the room unharmed and was checked out by paramedics as a precaution.
