Suspicious device reported underneath bridge causes closures on E470

AURORA, Colo. — A suspicious device was reported under a bridge at approximately 5:10 p.m. is causing the closure of E470 between Smoky Hill Road to E. Jewell Avenue and Gun Club Road between Belleview Avenue to E. Hampden Road.

Arapahoe County Bomb Squad used hazardous material technicians and drones for investigation. investigated a suspicious device that was found under a bridge in the area of Smokey Hill Road and East Jewel Avenue on Saturday night.

The Aurora Fire Department is closing E470 between Smoky Hill Rd to East Jewell Ave and Gun Club Rd from Belleview Ave. to E Hampden Avenue.

UPDATE: The Aurora Police Department said the device is associated with electrical wires in water and E470 will reopen soon. East Quincy Ave will be closed for about until approximately 8:30 p.m. while the emergency equipment is moved.
