JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office booked a 32-year-old Stephen Spomer on robbery and theft charges after an incident that created a lock out at area schools.

The sheriff’s office said the incident happened at Smoker Friendly in the 6000 block of W. Coal Mine Avenue in Littleton on Monday morning around 11:30 a.m.

Witnesses told deputies Spomer attempted to buy cigarettes and was denied. He then threatened the clerk, threw things around the store, pushed the clerk, grabbed items and ran out the door.

JCSO originally reported it as an armed robbery, which is why schools in the area were put on lock out until it was determined Spomer was out of the area and no weapons were involved.

Spomer was found at his home in Denver, taken into custody and booked at the Jeffco Detention Facility.
