DENVER (KDVR) — After a round of snow on Thursday morning, more snow is on the way for the Denver metro area.

Thursday is Pinpoint Weather Alert Day because of snow and cold moving into the state.

8:45 p.m. Aurora Public Schools and the Cherry Creek School District announced delayed starts on Friday. See the full list of closings and delays as they come in.

8 p.m. Denver Public Schools announced a two-hour delayed start for Friday.

City of Golden: Due to unforeseen staffing shortages, the Golden Community Center lap pool, hot tub, and sauna will not open until 7:15am on Friday, November 18. The leisure pool will open at 11:30am. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you!

6:09 p.m. St. Vrain Valley School District: Due to forecasted snowfall and deteriorating and icy road conditions, all schools will be closed to in-person learning tomorrow. Friday, November 18, will be a shortened online learning day for all students. Please visit svvsd.org for more information.

5:52 p.m. Town of Frederick: Due to the inclement weather and travel conditions, the Town of Frederick offices are on a delayed start and plan to open tomorrow, Friday, November 18, at 10 am. The Back 9 at Bella Rosa will be open at 9 am for breakfast.

Our Public Works team will continue snow & ice control throughout the night with sanding and plows on Tier 1 streets and roadways: Emergency routes and major arterials used by emergency services to access hospitals and schools. Tier 1 is the priority for town plow drivers.

3 p.m. Denver’s Department of Housing Stability (HOST) will activate Carla Madison Recreation Center, 2401 E. Colfax Ave., to expand overnight shelter capacity for people experiencing homelessness tonight, Nov. 17, and tomorrow night, Nov. 18. Carla Madison Recreation Center will be closed from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. on both Thursday and Friday night as the space will be converted to an overnight shelter.

2:30 p.m. City of Aurora: Because of weather conditions, the Ward II Town Meeting scheduled for tonight (Nov. 17) at Central Recreation Center has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

1:30 p.m. Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure: Denver’s plow operators will remain on duty tonight into tomorrow to address the main streets. With more snow on the way, drivers are urge to go slowly and leave themselves plenty of stopping distance. Amid very cold temps tonight, slick spots are possible

12:45 p.m. City of Fort Collins: Our first real snow of the season is here! While crews continue to apply de-icing materials on streets, remember to drive cautiously and give snow plows extra room – this helps them treat and clear roads with more accuracy and more safely.

10:20 a.m. Hiwan Museum closed 11/17 due to inclement weather. Outdoor areas at Hiwan Heritage Park remain open for visitors. The Hiwan museum is scheduled to reopen 11/18 under normal operating hours.

9:58 a.m. Greeley is under an accident alert until further notice. If no one is injured, fleeing or intoxicated and the vehicles be moved; please exchange info and report online at dmv.colorado.gov/report-accident when you get home.

9:45 a.m. Fort Collins is on accident alert until midnight. This means if you’re involved in a non-injury, non-alcohol/drug related crash, please exchange info and report online:

9:35 a.m. Due to the weather and a high number of crashes, Commerce City is now on accident alert.

9:15 a.m. Boulder County Sheriff’s Office: At 8:30 a.m., our dispatch center showed 13 active crashes/accidents. We can anticipate the evening commute to be challenging as well with the additional snow forecast. Please slow down and leave extra space between vehicles, as it will take a longer distance to be able to stop.

9 a.m. Denver and Castle Rock are now on crash alert

8:50 a.m. Due to current road conditions, the City and County of Broomfield is now on accident alert. Please take your time and allow plenty of room between vehicles if you have to be out on the roads.

8:45 a.m. I-270 reduced to two lanes due to a crash near CO 224

8:40 a.m. US 285 northbound/southbound: Passenger vehicle traction law between Pine Valley Road and C-470.

8:35 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Larimer County, Northwest Weld County, Boulder County, Jefferson County, and West Broomfield County until 9 a.m. Friday.

8:15 a.m. I-70 eastbound/westbound: Passenger vehicle traction law between Exit 248 – Beaver Brook; Floyd Hill and C-470.

Forecast

Meteorologist Travis Michels said Denver could get a taste of the snow before noon Thursday but will get a break in the early afternoon.

The snow will move back in for the evening commute and become more consistent throughout the night.

Denver snowfall totals will be 2 to 6 inches, the Eastern Plains will have totals between 1 to 3 inches, and the foothills snow totals will be between 5 and 10 inches. The snow will wrap up by 6 a.m. with slow-clearing skies on Friday.
