Arvada police shoot, kill suspect in Wheat Ridge

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. -- Police officers shot and killed a suspect after a chase on Sunday night, the Arvada Police Department said.

The shooting happened at the Shell station near West 48th Avenue and Kipling Street in Wheat Ridge in the 4800 block of Kipling Street, police said.

The incident started at a shopping center in the 5000 block of Kipling Street in Arvada about 5:30 p.m. when police received calls of a suspicious vehicle, officials said.

The suspect was wanted for felony warrants, and was considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.

Officers confronted the suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle before running on foot. Officers caught up with the suspect on the Interstate 70 frontage road where shots were fired.

Police said the suspect was shot and killed. No officers were injured. The name and age of the suspect were not released.
