LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Sixth Avenue near Sheridan Boulevard on Monday morning, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Police said they received calls of a woman walking in the median of Sixth Avenue about 6 a.m. A short time later, the woman was hit by a vehicle, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a woman dead.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. No charges are anticipated.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Sixth Avenue at Wadsworth Boulevard, causing long delays in the area.

The far right lane reopened just after 7 a.m. and all lanes were reopened about 9:40 a.m.

The name and age of the woman were not released, pending notification of next of kin.
