AURORA, Colo. — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by at least three vehicles while running across on Interstate 225 on Monday night, the Aurora Police Department said.
The crash happened about 9:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate at East Mississippi Avenue.
Police said the man was running west to east across the interstate near the Mississippi Avenue overpass.
Police said it’s not known why he didn’t use the overpass to cross the highway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the three vehicles stayed at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
All southbound lanes of the interstate were closed for about 4 1/2 hours, reopening about 2:15 a.m.
