Pedestrian killed after being hit by train in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man was killed after being struck by a train on Thursday afternoon, the Fort Collins Police Department said.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. near South Mason Street and West Mulberry Street, police said.

A BNSF Railway train was traveling northbound when it struck the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police and BNSF personnel responded. Investigators do not believe speed is a factor in the case.

The name and age of the man who was killed were not released.

About 8:30 p.m., police cleared the scene and roads in the area were reopened.
