DENVER — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by an alleged drunk driver on Interstate 25 early Friday morning, the Denver Police Department said.
The 31-year-old woman was killed after being hit on the interstate between Hampden Avenue and Interstate 225 about 1:20 a.m., police said.
Later Friday, police said the driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Timothy Ruggles, was being held for investigation of vehicular homicide and DUI with a previous driving while ability impaired record.
Police are still investigating why the woman was walking or standing on the highway when she was hit and killed. She has not been identified.
Southbound Interstate 25 was closed at Hampden Avenue for the investigation. The interstate reopened about 4:50 a.m.
